Strategies for Data Centre Security

Increasing demands of outsourced IT services such as cloud models, virtualization, storage, etc. availed from data centres is fulfilling need of comprehensive security strategies. Security experts have raised concerns that information security is unable to cope with speed of business and IT deployments. Traditional security focus on firewalls, anti-virus software, subnets and ports and focus on preventing rogue at periphery of network.

Due to this, there is need for in-depth security for network, end-points and servers, along with additional layers of security operations for infrastructure protection. Such attack prevention schemes can ensure IT security to protect data. In some scenarios, traditional security measures are not effective while trying to address threats aimed at insides of dynamic environments. Some of security strategies to consider are given below:

1. Revamped Security at Architectural Level
In order to have highest availability and integrity, data centres must implement security controls as part of data centre architecture. Security controls must be optimized for each module – network, servers, data, storage and more. Security is a continuous process and real time protection is important to identify assets that are critical across all components in data centre. Workloads must be secure to identify system level changes across remote locations.

2. Strategy for Data Centre Deployments
Due to flexibility, complexity and scalability, data centres offer on demand services to meet business requirements. The increased demand for hybrid data centre deployments proves that IT plays main role. The best approach here is to manage security across all virtual and physical instances. All data must be secured between enterprise organization and data centre.

3. Ubiquitously Manage Security
Security policies must be managed to ensure efficient risk management. Data centre operations will be efficient when servers, workloads, networks and storage are secure in virtual, physical and cloud infrastructure. Security must comply with PCI, HIPPA, etc., and provide real time insight across data and endpoints.

On the ending note, executing comprehensive security measures, security implementations in data centres are important to optimize critical services. As data centres are becoming dynamic to provide hybrid services that are ubiquitous, risk handling requirements are highly important.
